On behalf of the POPS Board welcome and thanks for visiting the POPS website! The Pediatric Orthopedic Practitioner Society was established in 2005 to provide and support specialized pediatric orthopedic training, continuing education, research collaboration, and to provide a forum for mentoring and networking for Pediatric Orthopedic Advance Practice Providers. POPS has continued to grow and expand its membership within the United States and Canada. Since I became an active member in 2006, I have enjoyed watching the organization gain wider recognition and support in the Pedi Ortho Professional Community. POPS provides professional support for advance practice providers that had not previously existed in the field of Pediatric Orthopedics.

I am Lori Thornton and have worked in Pediatric Orthopedics for 8 years at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. My experience and practice is primarily pediatric orthopedic trauma, fracture management, and musculoskeletal infection. When I am not working on orthopedic projects or playing with my two sons, I enjoy marathon running and try to convert any willing non-runners.

The POPS Executive Board and Committees will continue to strive to meet the needs and expectations of its members. The next Annual Meeting will be in Toronto on April 30, 2013 in conjunction with the Annual POSNA Meeting. The call for abstracts and scholarship opportunities will be posted on the website soon so check the website regularly for updates. Online educational opportunities and blogs will be posted once available. Our society thrives on the support of its members so all feedback and suggestions are encouraged. Become an active part within our growing organization. I am honored to serve as POPS President and excited to be a part of its continued success. I look forward to an exciting year!
